I’m currently marketing two young adult manuscripts, River Road and Alice in Evermoor. Though one takes place in the present day and the other in the future, the Mississippi River provides the backdrop for both.

I chose the Mississippi setting because a river suggests a journey, and not necessarily one we can control. Sometimes these journeys take us to places we wouldn’t have chosen, but isn’t that the horror and beauty of it all?
